Hey,
I've been more of a lurker
than a poster for the past several months. To break this (perhaps
appreciated) silence, here are some impressions of this years GuidoPalooza
held at Outer Banks, NC. The bottom line is that this was the fourth year
of the GP (my third go at it) and once again it rocked. Props to RodNDtube
for taking the lead this year in organizing the event.

GuidoPalooza 2002
Outer Banks, NC
Day 1
0630
Departed home in Pasadena
MD.
20 miles from home I discovered
that I forgot bodyboard and fins that wife Sveta wanted to use.
No worries, I knew
there would be plenty of extra gear to borrow.
I did remember to get health
food breakfast from Hardee's.
Kept on rolling for the
Outer Banks.
1100
Stopped for health food
lunch at Burger King south of Norfolk, VA.
Discovered potato sack wrapped
around rear axle of the surf truck.
Ate delicious burger.
1400
Arrived at GP2K2 headquarters
in Avon, NC.
Rod and many of the Guidos
were already there and we waiting in the driveway.
Rod and I went to get the
keys to the house, unlocked it, then we all unpacked our meager belongings.
Present: Rod, Kirk, Robb,
Mike, Myron, Neal, Sveta, and yours truly. We all drank beer.
1630
My first session (second
session for several of the aforementioned Guidos.).
Waist-chest high, but with
persistent south sideshore breeze that made it disorganized and shifty.
I caught a few, but got
out when dehydration-induced cramps in calf muscle reduced the fun factor.
1800
Rinsed off in the outdoor
showers at the house.
DeeDee arrived and presented
all with real flower leis.
More health food - Nachos
by Sveta washed down with beer.
The beverages flowed freely.
