When is Hurricane Season ?

The Atlantic hurricane season is "officially" from June 1st to November 30th. Peak activity is in early

August through October account for:
  • 78% of the tropical storm days
  • 87% of the minor hurricane days
  • 96% of the major hurricane days.

  • What is the chance of having a tropical storm or hurricane strike by each month?

Does an active June and July mean the rest of the season will be busy too?

No. There is very little correlation between the number of named storms (hurricanes) occurring in June and July significant versus the enntire season's activity. In fact, there is a slight negative association of early season storms (hurricanes) versus late season, August through November.
