Alex & Rod plus 5 locales

In the morning we concluded our Beachscaping for this trip. We covered about 5 or 6 of the breaks along the NW coast. At our first beach we found a couple of folks enjoying the sun and the waves. Other breaks were trying to break as the swell starting building over the course of the day.

PC270016.JPG PC270022.JPG PC270049.JPG L to R:
1) Nice lines starting to form,
2) clear waters, varied coastline,
3) this is where Columbus first made PR landfall

PC270055.JPG PC270007.JPG We then bought box lunches of
arroz amarillo con gandules and
pollo asado, a medio de pan,
criollo style calzone and some
drinks at at Panaderia Elaine's.
We drove over to Pools Beach to
eat our picnic lunch and bumped
into The Hamptons girls again.

The swell started to hit late afternoon so we grabbed our boards and headed north. Maria's was crowded for the small 3-4' swell it was picking up and Domes was zooing out people on the 5-6' rolling in. We checked out the Cliffs but it didn't look great and not to mention the local crowd en mass. Checked Agüeybaná before opting to head down to the Stones (PdP). Nice rights rolling in on the strong NW with five folks out, a mix of bodyboarders and shortboarders. We joined the line-up, exchanged pleasantries and everyone dug into waves helping each other out, talking story in our collective best Spanglish, and caught a few more until it was dark. The lefts appeared to be very junky but were holding up and reforming very well going from their initial close-out lines on take-off but then quickly developing into a speedy, hollow lefts over the shallow reef. The right was also throwing up a long line. Rode my last one in the darkness. Before leaving we were excitedly talking about tomorrow's prospects at Tabla de la Roca.

Dinner was at Bambino's -- much improved over last year. Por yo is was chillo entero, arroz blanco con habichuelas rojas, tostones, y salad; por Alex it was camarones in rice and beans with amarillos, excellent and large portion; and shrimp parmesan por mi esposa. Sorrullitos for all.
