After
yesterday's low of 65F the thermometer popped into the 90s today. The forecast
is looking good but there is minimal swell energy in the water today...
a good time to go shopping in Mayagüez and Rincón. We grabbed
lunch at the Panaderia Ricomini near Plaza Mayagüez. Large renovation
project at the Mayagüez Cathedral and also the theater. We made the
mandatory stops at the local surf shops, touched based with a friend at
Closeout Surf Shop, and wrapped up with the highlight shopping stop at
the Playa Oeste Gallery. The Gallery
has a wonderful westward overlook of Tres Palmas and a clear view to Cabo
Rojo. We stopped at the Lazy Parrot
for drinks and to watch the sunset, feasted on the criolla plate appetizers
(excelente homemade amarillos, tostones, sorrullitos) and continued on
with a very good dinner. The dining area is a beautiful, open air room
with a view to the west... ideal for watching the sun slip between the
hill tops and into the ocean. Highly recommended... we finally made it
there after ten years. Beth and Alex split a plate of dorado and rice and
beans while I had a large bowl of chicken and corn soup. Guess who showed
up at the Lazy Parrot -- The Hamptons Girls!. Earlier, we stopped
by to see Jason at The Vista and talk
about the upcoming swell. Turns out he is leaving for home tomorrow so
he'll miss it. We plan to hook up in the Cape May to Atlantic City stretch
of New Jersey. |
