The view to Wilderness
Late start, fueled up on a Villa breakfast and coffee, and checked several spots along the way. Ended up at the roca for what turned out to be a solo session. Sweet. But I wish Alex had been up to paddling out with me. He opted to stay on the beach as his cold left him too un-energized at a spot you want to have some energy. After getting a better feel for the mixed swell's character and a comfortable line-up position I went to work catching one wave after another in the murky waters. P1010071.JPG
Bougainvillea
This bay has been exceedingly reddish brown for not having much rain lately--can't pin it on recent runoff. There's simply been so much silt deposited over this last year that when the waves churn or the wind blows hard it creates turbidity as the silt kicks up from the ocean bottom. All this silt must be adversely affecting the reef and it's critters.

Left the Gath in the car since the waves were not that large and I was going to be riding the southern peak since the swell was closing and sectioning the longer northern peak.  Caught several fun rights with plenty of hollowness and fat walls to play on.

Maria's Punta
Partly Sunny and very windy, water kinda murky (trunks & short sleeve lycra)
4-8' with mixed swell and lot's of wind mixing it up, no current
High going low
Solo session with a moderate crowd.

Plenty of waves to go around for everyone at the Maria's Beach. After starting straight out at Maria's, I could not resist the urge to join the crowd of 8 or so at Maria's Point, where I remained for the balance of the 2 or so hours out. Conditions were not classic with the unseasonable afternoon wind blowing, but they were plenty good for lot's of rides. The swell is still organizing itself while providing plenty of taste for what it may have in store.  Nice way to ease into the bigger stuff after a long layoff from the reefs.
As the pictures show there
were plenty of empty waves
to go along with the crowded ones.
