Partly Sunny and clear, air low 80s, water ~upper-70s (trunks & short sleeve lycra)
4-5' with light chop to glassy and current east to west
Around high tide

Heave-Ho.  Dawn patrol with cafes con leche y pan de agua caliente.  Rincón was breaking small so we headed to the north coast.  Brian's Place seemed to be the best of the lot. We suspected that Surfer's Beach would be very crowded (it was we were told later with similar wave conditions).  We paddled out and hit a couple of walls of pounding bricks. Damn the waves break hard!  It's not even that large but there is so much power on the reef compared to a the last 9 months of weaker East Coast surf and a punchless week in SoCal during the summer. Alex may have caught one wave before telling me he wasn't feeling very well.  Minutes later he's leaning over his board and heaving. Final exams and transit day have left him exhausted and sick. He paddled in leaving me to solo rest of the session. Caught a couple of good ones with some punch in them that had not been experience in quite a while. Rights and lefts with plenty of wave to work in some cutbacks and mild cover-ups. Good start-up prep session. It's great to be back in some warm, reefy waters!

PdP (somewhere on the west coast)
Partly Sunny and very windy, water kinda murky (trunks & long sleeve lycra)
5-8' with mixed swell and lot's of wind mixing it up, no current
High going low
Solo session with Beth on-shore

Bloody Bay.  What's with he murky, brown-red water in these parts???  Can't remember this entire section of coast being so colored, particularly during non-rainy season.  Normally, if there has been a rain one can expect some "red water" to the north near the ELF station, but usually not throughout the entire bay.  Although PdP wasn't entirely reddish, it was very murky and discolored and so unusual not to see the many colored and shaped coral formations, fans, and fish. Anyways, I was too stoked to be back in the tropical waters of PR not to catch a few more waves.  Rode one very good right and another very good left in very windy, disorganized conditions.  Beth joined me on this jaunt while Alex stayed home to rest and recuperate. What she remembers most is getting bit by some bugs! What's with the bugs?  Also noticed a washed up boat on the shore.
Surf check in the afternoon didn't reveal much of quality so we just kicked back, relaxed, and enjoyed our vacation time. There's more swell on the way. Got a big kick out of the "Tsunami Warning" signs that have cropped up along a certain stretch of coast:

Surf check at Maria's Beach

Late afternoon surf check shows shows the wind and that the swell had not wrapped around south of the point.
