Well...
Here it is...
"The Flying Tiger"
My custom Hawaii Paipo Designs (can you tell??)
It's the SR model.....and has a sort of concave indent in the middle of the deck, compared to the regular classic.
It's awesome. Paul did an amazing job!
Can't wait to get it in the water... |

That's definitely the coolest one I've seen...but I've only seen photos. It's very striking and in keeping with your other new board. What is the surface material on the deck? It looks waxed. Congratulations for the cool acquisition! Have fun!!! |

Hi Tumak!
It has that closed cell foam used on bodyboards on the deck as padding...and I wax it.....I don't like sliding around when I launch or any other time...
I'm so stoked on this one!!! |

very snazzy! I'm jealous
concave? do you mean the belly part is dented in? that is interesting, what will that do? is the core a different material on the SR? |

Hi Kage,
The belly part is - look at the picture of the deck...look at the center of it and running down the middle....you can see how it is dished out in sort of a few inch wide stripe....it makes the board more flexible and lighter. I am sure the core is the same....these things are really tankers!
I have to go make that first picture smaller - I just got the full version of Nikon Capture. editor, picture viewer and somehow need to re-export that file as a smaller image!
Hopefully we can all make it to Paipoalooza, as you can test drive it then...
Paul found this Hot Rod Finish...when he was out looking for colors, so, it is really glossy - sleek....he went into places he never went before on this one, and I'm so glad he went along and applied himself to the general ideas, as he really did a fab job of it!
It actually has this optical illusion strobe effect between the orange and blue...I don't think the sharks will like it one bit....it has better stripes than the shark camo decals, and the right amount of contrast AND the colors flash - from the blue pattern to the orange pattern - it does tricks on your eyes...to them, I hope they will see it as a warning..
I have to work this week, but hope to be in the water with it on Saturday...
Cheers,

Paul doesn't put prices on his website. How much for the custom Flying Tiger? |

Fish that clean sharks, and fish that are poisonous have stripes...
They leave them alone.
Sharks probably do eat the little fish you pointed out as they have dots instead of stripes on them...
As for the price?
If you want a custom board, you need to discuss what you want with him.
The standard red, yellow or black Regular SR is $265.00 and there may be more charges for shipping, etc.
As far as PERFORMANCE goes - Paul's boards will out perform probably all the bellyboards, no problem....All of them.
I'm sure that Greg Noll that just went for $600 plus is a slow tanker compared to a HPD.
These things turn on a dime and FLY down the line!
A much better investment. |

You can always get a yellow, red or black one (stock) and do your own artwork on that....
I'm eventually going to peel off the shark camo decal (on my black one) and have something painted on...but, I haven't arrived at what yet.
I might actually use the pattern of a cleaner or posionous fish...
Have to browse around and look at a lot of them, eastern pacific fish.
Cheers

I got the SR in the water, Sunday....
It's easier to move around (lighter) and....it turns better!
Sharper, faster. It kicks butt!
I was carving to the left and to the right - while in front of the soup.
It will be my summer board...
People saw me get waves on it - that have seen me on other floation propulsion devices...and were totally stoked seeing me fly across wave faces and carve in front of the soup. They were like "Wow!"...
It's the bomb! |

Ahoy Birdie...what are some of the measurements of the Flying Tiger? Is there a tiki face in the wax on the deck? |

It's a ghost Tiki design!
The measurements are 40" x 30" (at the base).
It is the HPD SR model.
I am building a real website now, but will keep pictures that get posted elsewhere at the location you are linked to...which is the freebie.
My new underconstruction website got 350 plus hits one day! I must have linked a photo from it to sunsetsurf. All kinds of action over there due to the sharks.
Anyway....I think I get 400 hits a day and then they start charging me more, so...am going to use my freespace for "image location".
