Happy Holidays to all. Hope everyone has been getting some quality ocean time. I put together another small Gopro edit of some paipo riding from this past month. Lots of fun days this winter, but a lot less size than normal due to La Nina.

Cool video.......nice long rides and uncrowded conditions that make us SOCAL folk envious. |

^^Right on. Can't wait to see some of your footage. I suggest mounting the camera to a helmet or using the chest harness reversed so the camera is on your back for best results. The Gopro fisheye lens flattens out the picture, and the thin low riding paipo worsens this effect. Believe it or not, most of the waves in my Norcal vids are in the 6-8 ft face range. I've just been mounting the cam to the nose, so the waves come out looking 2ft high; plus I get a lot of problems with water splash. The results I've seen using helmet, back harness & custom mounts are much better. I'm going to try some alternate mountings soon. Also, don't forget to use anti-fog inside & out & make sure your batteries are top quality/fully charged before you go out. Good luck. |
