I've been using "Sticky Bumps" (bodyboard-cold water) wax on my epoxied ply paipo. I've had no problems; that wax lasts as long on my paipo as it does on a bodyboard or surfboard. Water temp where I surf ranges from low to mid 50's F.

Mr. Mike turned me on to an excellent grip tape that comes in clear.
I like it better then wax. I find it's got plenty of grip, there's never a mess and it looks good.

They also carry several different styles of deck pads that may be of interest.

I've got that clear tape (XM Clear Grip™ Traction) on my Austin Paipo. A little rub with wax makes it really grippy, and the tape itself makes the deck more ding resistant.

Here's a link with pricing info: http://www.surfmorexm.com/store/showproduct.asp?idProduct=MKEOKFMRIICVJTAHXHACOJIFNMXIUXVC
