|
|
On the history trail, in addition to articles, I have been trying to locate paipo 'pioneers'. Poobah posted an article by Val Valentine which referred to John Waidelich and his role in paipo design. Along with friends, such as Jim Growney who is stilla round, they rode Waimea and other spots on paipo in the 60s.
I made contact with John's son and daughter, Marika. His son, Stig, advertises a paipo DVD however, when I enquired about this Stig said he wasn't happy with the transfer from 8 mm to DVD or the soundtrack. Funds to remake this and whether there is a market for such a DVD are stalling points. There probably is a small current market and this is a piece of history that should be preserved, so will have interest to others in the future.
Stig is near Seattle/Washington - anyone in the area with technical expertise or have funding suggestions? The amount mentioned to me wasn't that large if there were enough orders. Rod's stats suggest 141 registered folks on the forum, give or take a few. Any thoughts?

I emailed him also requesting a copy, didn't hear anything though. How much $ are we talking? There are those who advertise less than $10 a reel. I don't know how much film we're talking about but... four times the quality (pixels, dots per inch, whatever) would only be $40 per reel. Clearly I don't know what I'm talking about but you get the idea. |

I see a number of people with Washington State locations in the Memberlist. It might be worth a try contacting them via PM/e-mail (no guarantee their e-mail addresses are current!). _________________ rodNDtube
