Does anyone have the lowdown on the Royal Richard etc. Paipo contest in Hawaii? It seems that they had a 2006 contest, but does anyone off Oahu go, or know about it? Will there be a 2007? Why aren't we all over this? Over at KSUSA they all go nuts for half the year over the contest. Who runs it? Redwings is what? I thought it was a shoe company. Who's Richard, why does he care or did care about paipos?
Like a chicken without a chimney, I remain, clucking flueless. |

Redwings are handboards...check the Hawaiian bodysurfing association, they used to ahve links to the contest info and photos...the paipo thing is attached to the bodysurfing contest...fairly outdated link here but maybe some useful info to be gleaned...

Still trying to locate the Redwings - Royal Richard Memorial Paepo (yup paepo) contest. http://www.redwingsmemorial.com/index.html . That link will take you to the latest info, there was a competiton this year for handboards with a paipo division. I don't really know if I could afford to go to Hawaii, but this is the thing that would make me try. But I still can't get any response. Michael Kliks is the guy you are supposed to contact, but he never responds. Does anybody know him or have any actual contact with anyone who's ever been to this? I think John Galera may have posted that he saw this a couple of years ago? I am not that excited to compete I just want to surf with some other paipos. Hmmm.
Is anyone interested in a west coast (california) gathering? I'll travel. Hell, I'll even host, I have a guest room and a couple of spare sets of flippers. |
