Doc,
Freaky...the black & white ad for Newport Paipos on vagabondsurf.com, Vintage Paipo Ads - I have both boards in my quiver.

Whoa.... you have maybe a Concave Vector tucked away? Could I ask you to take a few measurements, as the basis of the Devil Girl Model?
thanks

Welllllll
I see I'll have you beat by a mile.
I'll have the Blue Crushette's whisking PowerPuff Girl Paipo's right off the racks faster than production can keep up!

|
|
In the last 10 years I've surfed the North Shore, almost every swell over 5 feet, I have not seen one other Paipo Boarder in the lineup with me. The last regular rider with me, was Sean Ross in the late 1980's.
But there is hope in the younger generation, just recently a young man named Kaihoolulu Rickard (19 years old) has taken a interest in paipo boarding and is riding one of my boards on the North Shore. There are paipo riders on the south and west shores, but on the North Shore it is what it is.
Sorry to paint such a dismal picture for our sport in the Mecca of waveriding. |

John, not dismal at all, with a guy like you representing! Wish I could afford some of those shots that Jamie Ballenger sells. Other than Jocko`s,where else do you like to go out? |

Thanks for the kind words. I'm lucky Jamie usually gives me the good pictures he takes, guess he hopes to see a resurgence too. I normally surf Jocko's, Laniakea during the pro surf season. Daystar at Mokuleia on Kona wind days, Waimea when it's big and Pipe during the spring. I normally surf before work so the closest and best spot is where I go. |
