seeing as no one has any comments, I will throw in my two cents. I wonder if those handles on that real thin board are there to provide a little rocker. which the board does not seem to have a lot of. |

I mean by pulling up on them (the handles)
And I gues that stick that goes with the board on the botttom is for poking standups? Good idea. |

No pics of the fins on the Oz board?
And what sort of wood on that Japanese paipo? Ash? And why the paddle? Surely not for belly paddle surfing. Maybe he paddles something (a one man raft?) to get to the secret wave spot. |

No shots of the belly of the Oz paipo unfortunately
and about the paddle, the guy that made the paipo is a standup paddle surfer as well.
belly paddle surfing might be a great idea though _________________ Increasing succes by lowering expectations

here's a shot i found of a hawaiian paipo:
and some Tom Wegener alaia's
the parabolic rails on the first one is meant to get more flex when the board is surfed standing up. I heard Tom explain it in the podcast on surfermag.com.
Interesting stuff!!
