GuidoPalooza 2006
Food and Spirits

One of the many highlights of past GuidoPaloozas has been the sharing of culinary delights and GPers' local craft brews. Breakfasts have been a combination of communal feasts, do-it-yourself, and special productions (ala Neal Carver). Lunches are normally on-your-own. Dinners are lavish  affairs hosted by one or more guests and have featured some special treats over the years, including gourmet presentations (tasty and filling are the only requirements!). As has been the custom the past few years, the GP house will buy basic condiments; paper plates, cups and supplies; and, ice... everyone else should bring their favorite snacks, breakfast foods, etc.

Last year promised a featured Smack Down Cookoff bets between the twin 2005 World Series cities, Chicago (CraigK) and Houston (DaDriz). In case you forgot the dialogue, and promises, click here.

Last year we dined on pizza delivered from Topper's after a surf session stretching into sundown.
Very good, finally a decent pizza shop on Hatteras Island!

Last year's menu is listed below - to be modified as we approach GP2K6.

Wednesday Breakfast Chicago Breakfast Special - Craig Kemnitz [confirmed]
According to Craig. "a Chicago Style Breakfast would include steak and eggs, streusel, OJ and anything to prepare one for a day on the assembly line. Beverages would probably include some black coffee which may or may not be spiked (this will depend on whether or not the hip flask is already full). Most Chicagoans think Latte and cappucino are for suburbanite Rover driving  Starbucks going (insert stereotype here).... Much more appropriate for breakfast might be a six pack of tall Boy Old Styles.  I am going to need help with eggs, I don't eat 'em and don't know how to cook 'em."
George's Jungle Blend Espresso & Cafe Goya Espresso, Latte and Cappuccinos - Rod and George of the Jungle (?)
However, according to Craig exotic coffees are not Lake Kosher
Wednesday Dinner tbd - DaDriz
Thursday Breakfast Grove Park Inn @#$@#$ Omlets to Order - Rick M
George's Jungle Blend Espresso & Cafe Goya Espresso, Latte and Cappuccinos - Rod and George of the Jungle (?)
Thursday Dinner tbd - Foon

Huge Avocados
Notes: Meals plans are subject to change due to surf conditions, appetites and ambient conditions.

Jeff Cahill: I will bring pre-surf breakfast items. Bagels, Cream Cheese, Donuts, Danishes, etc.. I will also try to keep the supply of
bottled water up.

RickM notes: "If *I* can get some free time I'll make some cavatelli using a rather old machine that I inherited. Cavatellis are nothing but pure southern italian goodness."

Blender Nights Sweet Iced Luau Drinks - You bring the goods and Svetlana does the mixing - if she's able! <<ppd. to 2007>>
Craft Brews
...and Spirits
  • Rod - Mixed case of Blue Ridge ESB Red and Wild Goose IPA plus some Ron Barrilito and probably some Big Blue or Great Green.
  • Neal Carver - Local Crafts from the DelMarVa and some Blue Sapphire.
  • RickM - Local goodness plus... For the more adventurous, some gin as well as a bottle of vodka a buddy of my slipped in from Russia. It's supposed to be good, but then again that Overproof Rum I took last year was supposed to be good also.
  • DaGriz - Rum!!!
