Just home within the past hour. Will compose lengthy tomes
tomorrow.
Saturday: Something to play around in down at Frisco, nice
conditions, sunshine and warm water. Good to see old friends.
Sun-Tues: Mostly on-shore winds to the North but tempered
around the hook. Hard core troopers gathered together longboards
and hit Mitchell's and the Cove, down Frisco-way, once or twice a
day for knee to waist. I think yours truly made a few of these
trips. Desperate to ride so did my biyearly standups on a
longboard. The dark side did not take hold of me!
Wed:
Double sessions at the New S-Turns, shoulder to head plus, choppier
shifting peaks late morning that continued to clean-up with the light,
variable and sometimes offshore winds. Total glass off spitters
in the late afternoon until you couldn't tell the dark moving masses
from the night sky. Caught some nice, steep spitters. Some caught
me for healthy crunchers. Six hours of water time.
Thu:
3-hour morning session at Avon near the GP House. Glassy, classic OBX
emerald spitting peaks, spitting enough for some shack time, in the
3-4' range, consistent, sunny skies, no wind. Awesome! Early afternoon
surf check on the drive home at north Rodanthe showed 2' glassy
conditions. If your gonna have 2' surf this was the way for it to
look -- called in the report to the GP Base house.
Good group of folks. I want to say the best ever, but we've had
so many good groups every year. GP'ers went surfing everyday and
everyone chipped in keeping a good GP house. The only
misadventure was Foon's G&T meltdown and pitch forking event!
Guess somebody had to attempt filling in for DaGriz :)
Food and adventures coming soon! |
