Here is the finished board before the surf trip:
Here is the board after 2 surfs in 1' weak surf.
The join parted (apparently PU glue) and then it split along the circular grain. Given the join split in weak surf is it worth repairing? The nose had a section added to get nose lift - I did this, using epoxy.

Mike,
Thanks. I know it is overkill but my other thought was to sand down the deck a bit, glue an entire new piece of wood over the entire deck and sand down to the required thickness - the board could be a tad thicker and I have a 'second' quality piece of paulownia which on it's own, isn't up to standard.
I know there would be a bit of waste - would this be a mad idea - it would be like a laminate I guess.
regards

Glue an oval shaped tiki on the rear of the deck. Maybe inlay it with a router 1/16 inch. |

Poobah,
I've decided to go all out. I've cut a half piece of paulownia which I'm going to glue onto the deck, after I've sanded the deck right down. If I glue the new section slightly off the line of the current joins, this should be much stronger - like paulownia ply. On it's own the new sheet would have been too weak but bonded by epoxy it should be strong enough. A lot of sanding to do yet,
Maybe I'll take a photo or two - one of those don't try this at home shots.
