Indiana Seymour in the Temple of Oceanian, by Unknown, The Surfer’s Journal, “Collector's Corner,” Volume 4, Number 3, Summer 2000, p. 3. Courtesy of The Surfers Journal.
Described as paipos, based upon the measurements and descriptions provided in the article I will go out on a limb and speculate that one board may be a paipo and the other board an alaia.
Documents two specimens in the Univ of Penn Museum Oceania Collection. I have been in contact with the curator who told me the museum will be shooting some digital images later this summer. I have requested that several angles be taken of each board and that more detailed measurements be taken using Geoff's (surfresearch.com.au) board measurement template (modified for paipos). And a couple of other things.
Of note, Indiana Seymour speculates that artifacts may reside in Great Britain. _________________ rodNDtube
