Snagged this hard body board at the O'side swap last weekend and just got around to posting pictures.
A quick google search revealed the builder, Macski is in South Africa http://www.macski.co.za/ and still doing business but not making this item any more.
It's not your standard foam/glass board but instead seems to be some kind of epoxy(?) construction.

Hi,

I cant tell you much more about the boards than what you already know, other than to say that I know the Owners of Macski. They are based in a city called Port Elizabeth here in South Africa. John Mcleod owns the company together with two of his sons, Ian and Alistair.

The boards were very popular in the early to mid-eighties and when entering bodyboarding competitions (here in SA) back then, you'd have to state on your entry form whether you were "Soft Core" (Foam Board) or "Hard Core" (Macski type board). There was another South African Waveski Manufacturer called Kolaski, based in a city called East London, who also made these type of boards.

Still see them every now and then in second-hand shops.

Have not specifically taken note of the cost, but seem to recall seeing one in a shop not too far from here. When I'm in the area again, I'll pop in and see if its still there and how much.

Uncle Grumpty, I also have one of these, picked it up about 3 or 4 years ago when I was living in Sydney, guessing mine was made arround 1986, as it has a sticker on deck and bottom saying when their riders one SA Championships.

never got round to using it as yet

No idea why the images are so small, using Imageshack which I always use, but for some reason no matter what resolution I chose pics always come out at this small size.
