I got my Paulownia on Monday and today was able to begin gluing planks.
The wood comes 5' long @ nominal 1" x4" in a bundle of 6.
It reminds me of many SE Asian timbers marketed as "Phillipine Mahogany" . Light weight and fairly soft, easy to plane and also dent.
I decided to use System Three T88 glue. I know the Wegeners use PU but I've had bad experiences with it and I know epoxy works.
I glued up 3 pairs of boards today and may get around to finishing the plank glue up, early next week. Much easier then trying to do all 6 at once.
I'll be using General Finishes Salad Bowl Finish as my choice for topcoat.

This stuff is dead simple to use and produces awesome results.
Once it's completely dry it's food safe so I can get extra use from my alaia as a giant serving tray |

I only got one thing to tell you about paulownia wood. When you sand or grind on it you need to ware a dust mask. This wood is not like other wood the dust is very bad for your lungs so please be careful. I have made lots of boards out of it I love this wood MIKE _________________ PAIPO ON

Thanks Mike
Well aware of the dangers of funky sawdust.
This stuff is not nearly as noxious as some of the stuff I've come a across.
Sharp planes and cabinet scrapers work better then sanding and grinding for most applications anyway.............
FWIW I've been working wood and metal for a living for about 30 years |
