Paipo #4 was recently purchased from Mr. Mike of San Diego and perished the day after its debut at Steamers Lane in Santa Cruz, California. #4 Performed spectacularly in 6 to 8 foot waves on both days, executing tight cutbacks and demonstrating blazing speed down the line.
In what was meant to be my final wave of the day #4 slipped away from me in a turbulent wipeout and finally ended up wedged in the rocks. I had to wait several hours while the tide dropped, and in that time the board was snapped in half by the sometimes double overhead surf. #4 has chosen a burial at sea (because I can't get at it lodged in a semi submerged slippery cave.)
# 4 will be sorely missed and is survived by HPD, Whitey, Blast, and Beany. No flowers please, the family request that donations be made to the Surfrider Foundation. |
