Dale, or any other Swaylocks contributors - where has it gone??? The link I pulled up today is not surfing related - very curious. _________________ gcs |

Unfortunate. Considering the 99%+ of the surfermag bbs that's plain drivel, it's a real shame, as the sound/noise ratio at Swaylocks was pretty good. |

doc, Birdie, et alia...
Earlier today I received this from "Lee V.", a friend and fellow contributor to Swaylocks Surfboard Design Forum:
"...As you've seen Swaylocks is down and may not come back soon. I've got an e-mail in to Mike (as does probably everyone else in the "Neighborhood").
In talking with those in my office familiar with such things, there is a more than 50/50 chance that Mike will have to reboot his site with a new address as there are no "internet police" to chase down the vomitous mass that are these new "Search Engine Pirates". A lot depends on Mike's set up and service.
Should be interesting...The real answer to this and the pop-up problem is to completely boycott any and all advertisers that use these devices, and to let them know you are doing so. "Pick up the Cry!" |

Wayull- www.swaylocks.org and www.swaylocks.us are open. Love to know who his provider was...and, lets just find out:
from Internic whois
No match for domain "WWW.SWAYLOCKS.COM".
>>> Last update of whois database: Fri, 23 Jan 2004 06:36:44 EST <<<
NOTICE: The expiration date displayed in this record is the date the
registrar's sponsorship of the domain name registration in the registry is
currently set to expire. This date does not necessarily reflect the expiration
date of the domain name registrant's agreement with the sponsoring
registrar. Users may consult the sponsoring registrar's Whois database to
view the registrar's reported date of expiration for this registration.
same applies for www.swaylocks.net |

UggghhhhhhH!!
Noooooooo. not Swaylocks!!
I had this feeling the other day I should cut and paste all the posts from shapers installing Speeedfins....all the little tips they had...Instead, I pointed the shaper of my kneeboard to the archive....last night.
It will come back!

http://www.speeedfins.com/install/ though frankly, I'd steal one of Mom's drills out of the hallway and a 1 1/8" or 1 1/4" hole saw and go with some FCS - it's just a bit easier, y'know?

Good luck on that - I have Mac OS X issues to clean out.
I've been on the internet since the old Unix days - back when UseNet was still an amazing place, before the click and point hordes descended upon us...and now...Mac has OS X which I can switch into Unix.
Funny how things come back around.
Did you say you were building a shed?
One of the best UseNet groups on the web has been rec.sheds.uk nooo wait...thats not the whole or right address...but close...it's like a monty python shed group....completely hilarious and extremely intelligent. Takes awhile to learn all the lingo...do a search on sheds in your newsgroup directory, go with the one from the UK.
I haven't been over there for awhile, but it's been around for years and is possibly (or was) the funniest, most useful, and downright unique group in UseNet...sort of a secret chubby hole. I am sure we had some of englands brightest comedians incognito over there...on par with the python's none-the-less.
Dale, you would enjoy it too...

ah- news:uk.rec.sheds - lets see what this does to the ol' url link setup. Prolly bring to a grinding halt. Have a look at the Tea thread.....
not that I understand any of it, mind you......
http://www.uk-rec-sheds.org.uk/ doesn't ( excuse the term) shed a whole helluva lot of light on it either. Alas.....the FAQ is worth it. Not quite as twisted as alt.surfing, but they have more practice.
Hmm...speaking of which, I need to finagle some mismatched shingles.
Linux.... not quite ready for prime time. |
