Our man Chet is in on the bidding thus far for this La Jolla-based paipo.

The V-bottom era came and went rather quickly. Especially for bellyboards. I used to have one of those Hansens with the screwed-on fin. After I traded it away, I was told that model was only made for about a year. I've only seen one other...a reverse T-band with the fin missing. |

The fin attachment is rather interesting looking in the one pic. Even though there appears to be a fin box the fin appears to be mounted on top of the board.
I don't see any great advantages of "V" in most paipos - the V would seem to create more drag than increase functionality. _________________ rodNDtube

Right, the fin is not in a box. It's on top of a patch of black resin. I don't know if the black resin hides a resin plug under each screw. I also assumed it was a pointed screw and not a bolt. I never removed them, because they were rusty and the fin base was cracked around screw holes....possibly a problem with expansion/contraction.
My board was slow for a bellyboard. The tail kick and deep vee weren't a good combo. The nose pushed water. |

Isn't that the one next to the used car showroom with all the vintage Ferrari's? BTW, I assume you mean meeting AFTER the surf session.
PS - Decent but bumpy (as usual) overhead waves this AM @ PC. |

Yikes! The board is currently at $455 and rising. At this point its getting past the replacement cost (even with those nice stringers). |

That would actually be another Mexican restaurant, one that I do like, but Su Casa has it's own character and is great for hitting happy hour for dip, chips, and margaritas.
Oh yeah, after the surf... not much of that there lately after an epic Dec.
Going out to your coast this weekend? _________________ rodNDtube

Nah, yesterday was it for me. We're getting hammered by another storm right now and then tomorrow night the biggest of the year is supposed to arrive. They are predicting over 3 inches of rain on the coast and 2 inches even in Portland. The east side is setting all sorts of rainfall records since the coast range and even the Cascades can only wring out just so much.
It was stormy in January last year too, so I'm hoping February will follow suit this year. The storm track dipped way south and we got weeks of waves with lots of offshore winds.
Last February:
