We've talked about channels and tunnel fins on the bottoms of boards. How about channel rails? Let's say for example a hollow wood paipo where the top and bottom skins overhang the floatation box. Or another variant...some booger foam sandwiched between two sheets of 1/4 inch plywood. Have zero overhang up near the nose, and then increase the overhang of both sheets as you move back toward the tail. Maybe even vertical fins sandwiched into the channel rail near each back corner???
