Hi folks,
I've been thinking about building a Grain Leaf style solid western red cedar paipo for a few years (http://www.grainsurfboards.com/boards/body-surf/leaf-paipo/). Never got to it due to all the other projects around.
Now it seems like they beat me to it and just released the Sea Sled a few days ago (http://www.grainsurfboards.com/boards/body-surf/sea-sled/).
Wonder what you all think of this design an what might be a good thickness. I was thinking of putting in a single fin, so it needs at least the thickness to accommodate a finbox, unless if I go for FCS plugs.
A rough calculation gives me 9 pounds for 1 inch of thickness, just the wood no finish nor fin.
Thanx! |

Those boys up in Maine do some great work. That Sea Sled looks like a pretty sweet ride.
It must be true that great minds think alike because I see MrMike written all over the nose of that board and the bottom runners bring Poobah's "sissy bars" to mind. |

Very nice one MrMike. do you recall the thickness and weight on that one please?
While browsing through your blog I notice that we share the same nose/tailblock technique...
I'll drag myself into the hall and take a pic of one of my boards...

There it is (hopefully). I got plenty more but they're in the garage and no way I go out on crutches with half a meter of snow outside .
