Here is the outline for my first paipo for 2010, courtesy of some designs Larry Goddard sent me.
No rocker as yet - may build the nose up to get a bit of nose lift.
It is 54" x 18" WP. Thickness is a work in progress.

Mike,
Thanks. Next job is to glue 1 or 2 pieces of wood on top of the nose which will then be the thickness which I will use to create some lift.
Have you ever added a fin to a paipo which wasn't glassed? If so, how would you do it?

yes I have, I just epoxi it on with 1hr epoxi then if you don't like it it is easy to take off. they won't come off unless you hit it real hard. I alway took them off' now I don't ever put them on MRMIKE _________________ PAIPO ON

Mike,
Thanks. I ride finless - Larry was encouraging me to try it with a fin/fins.
At this stage I am still inclined to go finless though am considering the options.

Hi Bob, I made some from 2mm aluminium sheet and bent it at 90o. I screwd them (twinny) into the wood with 1/2 in screws.
It was good because I could move them around, in and out, symmetrical or not ...just to see what happened.
I sent a pair to Eef in Holland(?) about 2 or 3 years ago, Ive got a few spare sets, would you like me to send you some?
Regards for the new Year, Brett. |

Poobah & Brett,
Thanks. I'll see how the board turns out and in the meantime give some thought to fins. The screw on aluminum ones do have some appeal and would be easier than trying to install fin boxes, given my limited skills
all the best for 2010,
regards
