eef: I sold 8 boards last year. not what you would call a booming trade. most of my boards are sold to my friends. at a discount rate for what it cost me to make them. to me makeing them is just as much fun as surffing them MIKE _________________ PAIPO ON

You should probably get credit for being the most active builder around here, between the boards and tikis and God only knows what else you do. Truly impressive in both quality and output. |

Mike,
Does this mean there are now lots of paipo riders in your area or are the boards treated as pieces of art/collectables?

Mike,
Where I come from I would call more than 1 a lot. I have had one surf with two guys on alaias and otherwise, have never surfed or seen anyone else on a paipo.
besides making fine looking boards you are spreading stoke.

I made alot of paipos back in the 60s & early 70s when they came out with foam boards that what everybody wanted. then after 30 more years nobody knew what a paipo or belly board was. I have never changed over. I still think the hawaiians had it right the first time around. when I sell a wood paipo I try to explain the history of the sport. It is kind of a zen thing. not trying to see how many waves you can snake from the other guy. just being one with the water is all I need MIKE _________________ PAIPO ON

Hey Mike!
i agree!! And making them is as much fun as riding them indeed. Here in the Netherlands there are no paipo riders that i know of, most people are stand-up surfers. Not many boadyboarders too.
