It's a sort of reversed tri fin handboard with the solo fin in front instead of being at the back.

You pearl, you get disembowled...

Still, the whole package looks interesting. The forward fin seems a bit big to me and the side fins looks like they will make the thing track, but it sounds like the builder has run his design for some time. Looking forward to test ride reports...

Hey all,
I've finally gotten to this; so much to do and so little time.
I've posted a thread I found on a New York board linked as blog #2 next to this one on my index page.
The news is good, the time is closer, read on and see what's coming.
The quote and my reply are current.

I spoke with this guy about 2 years ago about his mako mitt and he was shocked I found it on the web - I thought it would be a cool thing to check out and throw in my suitcase when bringing boards on a trip was not practical. The guy didn't know if he would get to production but said he may sell some in the future (for a price beyond my interest). I just checked now to attach here and was suprised at how much fancier his website is - check it out.

Heya surfer type doods,
I am the designer and builder of this Mako Mitt, and I just want to touch base with you; since you've turned up in my statcounter, and are worthy and appreciative of this little effort of mine.

First let me tell you that this puppy truly kicks wave ass.
The intro at MakoMitt.com describes the process in brief, while it's current status is as follows.
I've made the prototype and it was ready to mold when I coated it with a gloss coat which shrank and left huge cracks in the surface. Consequently I've had to resurface the entire thing, which is now done.
The mold reciever is made and ready to go, the rubber application process had had a major problem , but I finally figured something out; so it's getting ready for latex.
I'll post the good news when the first one comes out of production and I get some shots of me catching waves with it.
I'm also building a surf boat to take me out there, a rigid hull inflatable with a 55 hp jet outboard and a tow mast, center console solid core foam rig; so the entire unit is going in tandem.
I've linked this board as Blog #2 on the Mako Mitt Index page.
I still have no idea what to charge for this; any ideas?
Peace Out,
From south of San Francisco, Maverick's Big Surf,
Radical Priest,
Mako Mike Goldsun
