Bill Wetzel was an early kneeboard pioneer in addition to being a surfer of note in the sixties. I remember running in to him (Trafalgar Street ?) in '69 or '70. He was gently disdainful of my flex spoon as he correctly thought it was hard to paddle and required being in the right spot on a "really critical" wave in order to take off. I heard he died a few years ago.
That board sure has a Greenough inspired fin but is kind of the opposite of spooned; sort of "filled up" in order to provide some floatation. Looks pretty fast though. Seems like it ought to turn off of those back corners really well too. |
