Alex Rodgers
Bodyboarder - Wilmington, NC, formerly of Arbutus, MD
My dad turned me on to wave
riding. I started on a Morey Boogie Mach 7+7 that my dad won in an ESA
contest. I used to skim board but now just stick to bodyboarding.
Started in Cape Hatteras and Ocean City but my favorite spots now are in
Puerto Rico.

Brian "Grumbling
Snowman" Gable
Shortboarder - Orange County,
CA, formerly of Washington, D.C.
Moved Spring 2004.
Born and raised in San Diego,
CA. Dad taught me how to surf at around age 8. I surfed all the way
through High School until I left for school at JMU in Harrisonburg, VA.
I would return home often and surf breaks like Black's Beach and the reefs
in Point Loma during Summer, Xmas, and Spring breaks. After college,
I moved to DC, and after buying a board out here, began surfing Ocean City,
MD, Assateague, and Hatteras on a regular basis. Basically, when the waves
are up, and the winds are right, I am going no matter what.
I am trying to find a way
to get some folks together to go exploring some of the barrier islands
off Chincoteague for a little surf adventure! Anybody got a boat?
Just got some new rubber,
and am pumped for some cold water surfing!

Message to the ASC. |

Francisco
Calderon
Shortboarder - Denver, CO,
formerly of Crofton, MD
Moved June 2004.
Started surfing as a 12 year
old in PR. Surfed intensively until 25, shaped boards to support my traveling.
Moved to Michigan a few years to work on my PhD, lack of surfing during
that period left me with an urge to surf that I will never be able to get
rid of. Lived several years in Northern CA, and rode Santa Cruz often.
I now work as a scientist for the USDA in Beltsville, Md. I like to travel
and have ridden Costa Rica many times, the Canary Islands, Hawaii, France,
Brazil as well as several other places. I like Asseateague locally and
Hatteras. My best surf ever has been in Roca Bruja CR, Pavones CR, Las
Palmeras in the Canary Islands, and Wildo PR. I also enjoy windsurfing,
skiing, cooking, scuba, homebrewing, reading. |
